Summary Report of the BIMP-EAGA Senior Officials Meeting
Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Davao City, Philippines
15-16 March 2010
The Senior Officials Meeting was held on 15 - 16 March 2010 at Pearl Farm Beach Resort, Davao City, Philippines. The meeting was attended by the Senior Officials, National Secretariats. BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) as well as the BIMP-EAGA Facilitation Centre (BIMP-EAGA FC). The meeting was also attended by the representatives from Asian Development Bank (ADB). The Meeting was chaired by Hon. Hj. Nazmi Mohamad, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade who headed the Brunei Darussalam delegation. Hon. Mr. Raldi Koester, Senior Official from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs headed the Indonesia delegation, Malaysia was headed by Hon. Mr. Razali Che Mat, Director Regional Economic Division, Economic Planning Unit, Prime Ministers Department; and Hon. USec. Merly Cruz, Undersecretary of Department of Trade and Industry headed the Philippines delegation
The SOM Standing Chairman, on behalf of the other Senior Officials thanked Philippines for hosting the BIMP-EAGA Senior Officials Meeting at the Pearl Farm Beach Resort. He stated the objective of the Meeting was to discuss the updates and progress of the 14th Ministerial Meeting and 6th BIMP-EAGA Summit directives, among others (i) the need to re-focus in achieving the BIMP-EAGAs vision as the food basket of ASEAN and single ecotourism destination; ii) issues on the environment; 3) follow up work on the priority infrastructure projects and 4) cooperation with development partners namely China and Japan.
The Meeting agreed to include the discussion on the BIMP-EAGA Fisheries Consortium, Private Sector Development Fund and the transport link between Glan to Tahuna.
